We always hear about the pain and anxieties, which are the lot of serious patients and their families. We are not always aware of the high price, literally, that patients' families pay to save their loved ones.
There are serious diseases, such as complicated cancers or other rare diseases, that the medications, treatments, transplants and surgeries required to deal with the disease and increase the chances of recovering from it - are not included in the health basket.
The implication is: huge expenses! Most families are unable to afford these expenses, incur huge debts and are forced to choose between two situations: one - to give up after the money runs out, and come to terms with the inability to help the family member overcome the serious illness, and the other - to raise donations. In the first phase, the association works to establish a fund for the patient, and from here begins daily work of collecting documentation and inquiries to bodies and individuals in order to raise donations to fund treatment, medicine, surgery or transplantation - depending on the case.
